Dr. Anders Bodare has been a lecturer and researcher in the field of soil dynamics at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm and at Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden. He has worked as a consultant in the same field. Dr. Bodare was educated at University of Uppsala in applied physics and graduated in solid mechanics and received a doctoral degree for his studies of a method to measure the dynamic stiffness and damping capacity by a vibrating screw plate.

Dr. Bodare has worked on a variety of consulting projects for private clients and government agencies in Sweden and abroad. He has worked on the prediction of ground and building vibrations from railway and road traffic, for instance the effect of high-speed trains on buildings and tracks. Other areas of interest are the dynamic design of machine foundations and dynamic interaction of foundation support systems. Dr. Bodare has extensive experience from earthquake risk analyses of, for instance, high dams. He has worked extensively with different types of vibration measurements, determination of dynamic soil properties from seismic tests and has used non-destructive testing (geophysical methods) for strength measurements of sculptures and cultural stone.

His consulting experience includes measurement and analysis of vibrations in train tunnels and mining tunnels. Many of these projects have been carried out for international clients and government agencies. He has also been advisor to Sida (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency) in matters of natural disasters in general and landslides and earthquake engineering in particular. He also took part in the emergency evacuation simulation at the volcano Vesuvius in Italy, October, 2006.

Dr. Bodare has published 20 papers in international journals and conferences and tutored 6 Ph.D. students and 50 diploma students in the field of soil dynamics.
